Q
: I have a 56k modem, why am I not getting that speed?
A : Make sure that your modem supports V.90. It is important
to note that in some areas you will not be able to get a
56k connection depending on the conditions of your phone
lines. External factors such as whether your phone is analog
or digital, the noise of your phone lines contribute to
the performance of the service.
Q
: Why don't I get long distance charges when most of the
websites that I visit are abroad and the friends that I
email are overseas?
A : There is no long distance charge because the dial up
number being used to connect to EASYNET is a local call.
Q
: Can my computer get a virus from the Internet?
A : It is always advisable to protect your computer from
virus attacks with recent and updated anti-virus software.
You can get viruses from software you download from the
Internet, files that you receive via email. It is always
best that before opening a file to scan it with your anti-virus
software.
Q
: Sometimes when I send an email, I get an error message
that the mail could not be delivered?
A : It might be that you mistyped the email address of the
recipient or maybe that you have the wrong email address.
It is also possible that the system that receives the email
is currently down, thus it won't accept your mail, and instead
bounced back to your server.
Q
: Sometime in the middle of surfing the net, I get disconnected
from EASYNET?
A : It is possible that your phone line has a call waiting
feature and/or an extension line. They interrupt your Internet
signal and you result in getting disconnected. It is recommended
that you disable your phone's call waiting feature or disconnect
any extension lines before going online.
