Q : I have a 56k modem, why am I not getting that speed?
A : Make sure that your modem supports V.90. It is important to note that in some areas you will not be able to get a 56k connection depending on the conditions of your phone lines. External factors such as whether your phone is analog or digital, the noise of your phone lines contribute to the performance of the service.

Q : Why don't I get long distance charges when most of the websites that I visit are abroad and the friends that I email are overseas?
A : There is no long distance charge because the dial up number being used to connect to EASYNET is a local call.

Q : Can my computer get a virus from the Internet?
A : It is always advisable to protect your computer from virus attacks with recent and updated anti-virus software. You can get viruses from software you download from the Internet, files that you receive via email. It is always best that before opening a file to scan it with your anti-virus software.

Q : Sometimes when I send an email, I get an error message that the mail could not be delivered?
A : It might be that you mistyped the email address of the recipient or maybe that you have the wrong email address. It is also possible that the system that receives the email is currently down, thus it won't accept your mail, and instead bounced back to your server.

Q : Sometime in the middle of surfing the net, I get disconnected from EASYNET?
A : It is possible that your phone line has a call waiting feature and/or an extension line. They interrupt your Internet signal and you result in getting disconnected. It is recommended that you disable your phone's call waiting feature or disconnect any extension lines before going online.

Q: When I dial sometimes It asks for a network password.
A: Simply cancel the request for a network password and not put in a password.

Q: I can log-in but I cannot browse.
A: If you are using Internet Explorer, go to Tools, select Internet Options, go to Connections, select LAN settings, disable Proxy. If you are using Netscape, go to Edit, then Preferences, select Advanced, disable Proxies.

Q: When I dial-in, after seeing the Verifying User Name and Password dialog box, I get disconnected. Why do I get disconnected?
A: Verify the username and password you typed in. Remember that the username and password are all case-sensitive. The CAPS Lock button might be active. If you still get disconnected, contact our Help Desk Team for assistance.
